You need to look for the quality of gemstones. The quality of a stone is directly effect to its price, the high quality stone always come withhigh price. To consider for stone quality, think about the 4Cs rule.
1. Color – different stones are coming with different colors, this is true. But you need to look inside each color of the stone for the quality determination. A clear, medium-tone, intense or saturated colors are reflected differently to the stone. Too dark or too muddled color is not recommended. The bright with clear color stone is considered as a high quality one.
2. Clarity – high quality stones should coming with no visible flaws inside. This option is actually not easy to decide. You might need to ask for the expert comment on the stone clarity as some ofinclusions are not easily to be spotted. However, in some stone type like emerald or red tourmaline, they are normally found inclusion inside but the different effects of inclusion make different value to the stone properties.
3. Carat – the unit size ofgemstone. Stone is sold by weightand the stone weight is measured in the carat unit. Be careful with the unit as different gemstone contains different density which is directly effects to the carat of each stone.
